With the third season of The Mandalorian now out and done, it became pretty clear that Pedro Pascal did not film any scenes physically as Din Djarin since the character didn't take his helmet off. Instead, Brendan Wayne and Lateef Crowder played the role on set during filming.

Pascal's limited work during the recent season was due to his filming of HBO's The Last of Us series and, as a result, the performance that he did was only through voiceover.

During a roundtable interview recently with The Hollywood Reporter with his fellow drama TV actors (via Collider), Pascal acknowledged that he only did voiceover work in the third season of The Mandalorian.

He described Wayne's performance as "better" and explained the reason for his absence from the physical production.

"There was an extended amount of experimentation, being in the suit for a lot of it, and frankly, my body wasn’t up for the task as far as, like, the four months of it. But I was in it," the actor said.

"I was in it a significant amount, an elastic amount. But now we’ve figured it out, which is super cool, and amazingly, it gave me the opportunity to be able to go and do something else."

While you might say that voiceover work is easier than acting on set, it is still a challenge for Pascal since it still has to match the physical gestures that the two actors did and make sure that this change in performing the role was seamless.

A lot of fans can agree that it didn't hinder the way Din was performed in the series and it still felt like the character that we know from the first two seasons.

It is also clear that Pascal has an adoration for the role of Din Djarin and there is no doubt that he will definitely play the role whether it's voicework only or not as long as Lucasfilm wants him to.

Who knows, perhaps they can find a way to have him play the role physically again in the future if ever they need the character to take his helmet off for narrative purposes or scheduling wouldn't hinder him from doing it.
