Peacemaker: Jennifer Holland and Steve Agee React to Final Episode’s [SPOILER] Cameos

Peacemaker stars Jeniffer Holland and Steve Agee have finally reacted to the DCEU Superheroes cameo at the finale of the Peacemaker series.

Created by the critically acclaimed superhero director, James Gunn, Peacemaker was a massive success being the most-watched TV show for the month of March. Alongside lead star John Cena, he was joined by Jennifer Holland, Steve Agee, Danielle Brooks, Freddie Stroma, Auggie Smith, and Chukwudi Iwuji. Viola Davis also reprised her role as Amanda Waller in the series.

Peacemaker follows as a redemption arc for John Cena’s Christopher Smith after the events of The Suicide Squad where he murdered Rick Flag at the end and caused a huge despise by the fans towards his character. Smith was recruited by new secret operatives led by Murn, which is called ‘Project Butterfly.’ Their team’s goal is to hunt down the butterflies and discover their secrets. The series follows a hilarious and playful take on superhero films and Smith’s dumbness together with his dysfunctional new crew made the series entertaining.

At the finale of the series, Smith’s team isn’t really doing well and that's when Amanda Waller sent some backup, surprisingly, The Justice League. The iconic DC heroes made a really quick cameo at the finale and we saw Ezra Miller’s Flash and Jason Momoa's Aquaman was really there on the screen. While Superman and Wonderwoman are just shadows. But Peacemaker, knowing his character, didn’t care for the superhero team showing up, he didn’t mind at all.

In an interview with Comicbook.com, Holland and Agee discussed how the quick cameos have affected the series. The two actors explained how ‘crazy’ and ‘cool’ it is to feature the iconic DCEU characters in the Peacemaker finale.

Holland explained, “I love it. I love when the different shows and movies can cross over. I think it’s fun for fans. I know that, before I was in any of these superhero projects and I was just a fan, it was always fun to see Nick Fury show up at the end of the movie you were watching. You’re like, ‘Oh, cool!’ So I thought that it was going to be really fun. You just don’t know how people are going to react to it. But I just hoped that people would see, ‘Oh, cool. There’s a place for all of us in this world.’ We’re a different tone, and we’re a different type of team. Maybe we’re not as superhero as some of the superheroes are, but we’re in the same world, and there’s room for all of us in this world.”

While Agee, on the other hand, explained how awesome exciting it is to see the characters on the series. “It was exciting. I am a big Justice League fan. I like those characters. I like the look of the characters. I like the dramatic feel for those movies. I was a fan of [Zack] Snyder’s Justice League. It was so crazy to shoot it. I mean, that’s all real. They were standing there. We had Superman on a wire. There was a person hanging there. That wasn’t digitally put in there. We had people, same sizes and the same suits. And seeing them silhouetted like that was really amazing for me, as a fan of those movies, to see that. It was awesome. It was so awesome. It was really hard not to talk about it and tell my friends.”

Peacemaker has been disparaging Justice League throughout the series and seems to claim that he doesn’t care about them at all and proves to everyone that he is also like them, a superhero but totally displays the opposite.

Peacemaker was a brand-new hilarious yet a little violent take on the superhero genre and seems like the viewers liked it. James Gunn just announced that season two is already in development.

Peacemaker is still streaming in HBO Max
