Patrick Stewart Might Be Teasing An Appearance In Star Trek Discovery

Could Star Trek: The Next Generation icon Patrick Stewart be hinting at a role in Star Trek: Discovery?

Though the Stewart tells Red Carpet News TV that he hasn't seen CBS All Access' new Star Trek television series yet, the Star Trek legend says that he might "have good cause to look at it very soon."

While some believe that this comment might simply mean that Stewart wants to start watching the new Star Trek series, others speculate that Stewart could be hinting at an appearance in Star Trek: Discovery, possibly as Captain Jean-Luc Picard.

In the past, Stewart has been pretty vocal about the idea of returning to the Star Trek franchise. This year the actor expressed interest in collaborating with Quentin Tarantino on the cult filmmaker's upcoming Star Trek movie. Given his enthusiasm over returning to the captain's chair, it won't be a surprise if Picard somehow shows up in Star Trek discovery, though it isn't quite clear how the Captain might appear considering the fact that the show takes place a century before The Next Generation.

Maybe Stewart could play a new character, possibly an ancestor of Picard's. Of course, Star Trek's always played around with the idea of time travel, so the captain still might be able to find his way aboard the Discovery – who knows.

The second season of Star Trek: Discovery airs sometime in 2019 on CBS All Acess.
