The Spice Girls were one of the biggest things back in the 90s, but the group has since fizzled out of the scene. What's interesting is, Paramount Animation is teaming up with the girl group to make an animated movie.

Talking to The Hollywood Reporter, Paramount Animation president Mirelle Soria confirmed that an animated Spice Girls movie is in the works and all the members — Melanie Brown (Scary), Emma Bunton (Baby), Victoria Beckham (Posh), Melanie Chisholm (Sporty), and Geri Halliwell (Ginger)—are "very involved" with the film.

The movie is also said to be a musical which will include some classic Spice Girls hits as well as some new songs. We don't have much on a story yet, but my guess is they can make this some kind of Hannah Montana situation or maybe make the girls pop-stars by day and kick-ass super spies by night.

Then again, they could always do a "day in the life" kind of story like they did with the Beatles and Hard Days Night, but why waste the possibilities that you can do with animation?

With almost everything getting rebooted these days, it's interesting what the Spice Girls are planning with an animated movie. Bohemian Rhapsody basically introduced Freddie Mercury to a whole new generation, and the same thing is happening to Elton John with Rocketman. With all these K-Pop stars making waves, how could you not bank on the all-women ensemble that dominated the 90s?

No release date has been set for this Spice Girls movie, but hopefully, we get some significant update later this year.
