Paramount Gets Sued For Not Having Enough Product Placement in Transformers 4

Paramount, the studio behind the Transformers franchise, is being in court on a $27 million lawsuit for failing to actually place a product from a product placement deal.

According to THR, Wulong Karst Tourism, a state-backed travel company, is suing Paramount and the Chinese co-prodcuer of Transformers: Age of Extinction, China Movie Channel, for failing to live up the obligations of a deal they made. The tourism company claims it paid $750,000 for a logo with the Chinese characters for "China Wulong" to appear in the film

While they admit that the logo isn't in the film, Paramount claims they have made up for it with a commercial that Michael supposedly shot for Wulong Karst Tourism, and the sets and props were left behind.

Wulong Karsh did not accept Paramount's substitutions, so they brought the case to court in Chongqing city and is now being heard.

This is a huge problem for Paramount since Wulong Karst is a "state-backed," i.e. Chinese government-backed company, and many films these days rely heavily on the Chinese box office for their profits, especially action movies that critics slam down and/or are doing badly in America.

For some reason, Paramount failed to put a logo in its giant product-placement blockbuster, which turns out to be an epic screwup since the company who originally paid $750,000 is now suing for $27 million.
