Paramount Eyeing Marvel’s Paul Rudd For Sonic The Hedgehog Movie’s Lead Role

It looks like there might be a chance for Marvel fans to see Ant-Man and the Wasp's Paul Rudd taking the lead role in the live-action CGI film adaptation of SEGA's popular video game series, Sonic the Hedgehog.

According to a report by That Hashtag Show, Rudd is being eyed for the lead role in the film Sonic the Hedgehog. Though the studio is still keeping the plot of the live-action CGI movie under wraps, the site says that Rudd is expected to play the part of a human cop who manages to befriend Sonic in the film. The two are expected to team up together to take down Doctor Eggman Robotnik, the main antagonist of the Sonic the Hedgehog video game series.

For those who aren't familiar with the video game franchise and the character, SEGA first introduced the hedgehog back in 1991 as the company's response to its Nintendo's leading character, Mario. Along with his friends, Tails and Knuckles, Sonic spends his time running around in games collecting rings and thwarting Doctor Eggman Robotnik's evil plans. Sonic the Hedgehog video game series is pretty popular and SEGA has sold more than 360 million copies of the game around the globe.

The film which is to be directed by Oscar-nominated filmmaker Jeff Fowler will work on a script written by Patrick Casey and Josh Miller. Now under development at Paramount Pictures, the film is working with a budget of $90 million.

Though fans have come to know Rudd as Marvel's new Ant-Man, many think Rudd is a good fit for the role because of his humor.

Sonic the Hedgehog doesn't have a release date just yet, but we'll let everyone know as soon as we get word.
