Paramount Announces Transformers 5’s Official Title


News of Paramount's Transformers 5 has been known for quite some time now, but very few details about the film has been revealed at the time. Now, the studio has announced the official title for the fifth movie. It looks like the movie will be going for a medieval tone being titled Transformers: The Last Knight.

The announcement was made by Paramount (via ComingSoon).

Aside from the movie's title, the studio confirmed the return of Transformers: Age of Extinction star Mark Wahlberg as Cade Yeager. Meanwhile, new members of the cast will now include Nickelodeon star Isabela Moner as the lead female character Izabella, as well as Neighbors star Jerrod Carmichael in an undisclosed role.

Production for the film is set to begin on June 6, with shooting set to take place first Cuba, then in several other different locations around the world.

While Age of Extinction's Michael Bay has expressed his desire to end his tenure as a Transformers director, the filmmaker will be helming The Last Knight.

Further stamping the announcement as official, the movie launched its official Instagram account showing a close-up shot of Optimus Prime's face.

Paramount hasn't announced any synopsis for the film, so it remains unknown how the story of the upcoming movie will go. However, from the title, it would seem that the movie will be taking on a medieval tone, with the knights likely referring to the Knights of Cybertron. As with previous Transformers films,The Last Knight is expected to be a blockbuster hit.

Transformers: The Last Knight is slated for release on June 23, 2017.
