Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker will feature the late Carrie Fisher's last on-screen performance. Her sudden passing has left the sequel trilogy's path uncertain, but director J.J. Abrams made sure the actress' legacy will live on. And it looks like Fisher herself has made her presence known.
In a recent panel for The Rise of Skywalker, Abrams was talking about the actress' role in the upcoming movie, with the mention of "the lighting," as if on cue, the lights suddenly went out. Brandon Davis of Comic Book caught the bizarre moment. You can check it out below.
Abrams then joked that it might be Fisher's doing, so much so that the director even greeted her. "Hi, Carrie!" he said with enthusiasm. Abrams mentioned that it was such a "Carrie thing" for that to happen.
The audience laughed it off, and even though it was some sort of a weird moment, it was really heartwarming. In a way, you could see the deep love and respect the cast has for Fisher since the first thing that came to mind was that it was the actress trying to make her presence known.
In a previous interview, Abrams revealed that he would be utilizing Fisher's unused footage from The Force Awakens into The Rise of Skywalker. He found a way to use 8 minutes of clips in order to fill the character's absence. The director pointed out that if you see Fisher in the movie, "it's her," and it's not some "crazy digital trickery."
Fisher's Leia Organa was also recently confirmed to be training Daisy Ridley's Rey in the ways of the Force, which certainly got some Star Wars fans really excited.
