Pacific Rim: The Black takes place in the same world introduced in the two live-action movies, with the continent of Australia being sectioned off from the rest of the world because of the huge wave of kaiju ariving.

Developed by Polygon Pictures, Pacific Rim: Black has seven half-hour episodes you can watch on Netflix now. There's no word yet if a second season will be released, but it's good to see that Del Toro's sci-fi franchise is still alive. There's also no word if a third live-action film will be released yet.

Here's the official synopsis for Pacific Rim: The Black:

There was a time when Kaiju rose from the Pacific Rim only to encounter gigantic robots, Jaegers, built to fight them back. That time has passed. Now, Australia has been overrun by Kaiju, forcing the evacuation of an entire continent. Left behind, teenage siblings Taylor and Hayley embark on a desperate search for their missing parents, teaching themselves to pilot a battered, long-abandoned Jaeger to help in their quest and give them even the slightest hope of surviving.
