Pacific Rim 2 Taps Jurassic World 2 Writer Derek Connoly

Jurassic World co-writer Derek Connoly has been tapped to write Pacific Rim 2, the sequel to Guillermo del Toro's mecha vs. monsters movie, THR reports.

Steven DeKnight, the showrunner of the first season of Netflix Daredevil is directing the film, and Del Toro will still be involved as one of the producers but is not directing the sequel to his 2013 film.

According to the report, drafts have already been written by del Toro, Zak Penn and Jon Spaihts, and while plot details haven't been revealed for the sequel, at one point it was to have been set many years after the first film and where the monster-fighting robot suits known as Jaegers have become commonplace.

It looks like Legendary is pleased with Connoly's work on Jurassic World 2 and Kong: Skull Island. That's good to know that the sequel to del Toro's film is in the hands of talented people like DeKnight and Connoly. Now, I have high hopes that Pacific Rim 2 will be much better than the first movie.
