Overwatch Releases New Short Focused on D. Va; New Busan Map Teased

As promised, in the beginning of the week, Overwatch has dropped a new animated short, and this time, it puts D. Va on the spotlight. Here we get to watch her defend her home city as she serves time on a mech security force.

I'll admit, the action is just as cool as I would expect from an Overwatch short, but it doesn't have that same emotional ‘oomph' that we got from the latest ones like Mei's or Reinhardt's origin stories. Then again, you can't expect every Overwatch short to be a tearjerker.

This short does give us a good expansion of the lore, and tells us the place of Korea during the times of the Omnic Crisis. It's also cool to see D. Va's abilities in action, and we also get her performing her ‘ult' to get rid of the last bot. Last thing we needed was for her to say ‘Nerf this!'

Speaking of Korea, Overwatch has also announced an incoming map which puts us in Busan. D. Va has been in the roster of heroes since launch, and it's great that she finally gets a location of her own. Here's an official description of the map:

Travel to Busan, South Korea and battle for control across three distinct locales within one map: Sanctuary, Downtown, and MEKA Base.

Explore the serene setting of the Sanctuary, surrounded by an ancient temple, beautiful gardens, and historic architecture. Clash in the bustling metropolis of Downtown, where players will fight across a busy PC bang, flashy karaoke bar, and central light rail station (just watch out for the train). Contest for position in MEKA Base—home of South Korea's frontline defense against the gwishin omnic attacks: D.Va and the rest of the MEKA squad. Teams must fight to hold each of the three stages to establish complete control of the city that refuses to surrender its way of life to any threat.

No release date has been announced for the Busan map, but we should expect it before the year ends.

Overwatch is now playable for PS4, PC, and Xbox One.
