Overlord 4 Episode 8 Recap
Zanac and Princess Renner begin the episode by discussing the Sacred Kingdom and the Sorcerer Kingdom. The Sacred Kingdom, according to Zanac, has sent a representative to the Kingdom.
While Zanac wanted to discuss countermeasures, Princess Renner was adamant about sticking to their foreign policy. Princess Renner, on the other hand, blamed Zanac for abandoning the Sacred Kingdom in the face of an enemy like Jaldabaoth.
Because Zanac refused to assist, the Sacred Kingdom sought assistance from the Sorcerer Kingdom. In the end, the Kingdom defeated Jaldabaoth and sent massive relief supplies. Unfortunately for them, the Sorcerer Kingdom's reputation is growing.
While Zanac recounts the Sorcerer Kingdom's generosity to their empire, he is also skeptical of Ainz Ooal Gown's plans. After all, the Baharuth Empire has already been reduced to the status of a vassal state.
Princess Renner then requests that Zanac submit their kingdom as a vassal state as well. However, Zanac claims that, unlike the Baharuth Empire, the nobles in their kingdom are difficult to control. If they decided to force the nobles, the only thing that would happen is rebellion.
Before their conversation ended, Princess Renner asked Zanac when he would ascend to the throne. Zanac responded that the king was simply waiting for the right moment to hand over the throne to him. His promise to Princess Renner would have been fulfilled by then.
Meanwhile, Baron Philip Montserrat is inebriated while drinking in a pub. Delvi and Rokerlen, two other barons, greeted him. Philip expressed his feelings to the other two barons. Delvi and Rokerlen agreed with Montserrat's complaints, from his ignorant commoners to his poor crop management.
Delvi and Rokerlen confirmed in the middle of their conversation that Montserrat was in contact with the Prime Minister of the Sorcerer Kingdom. Montserrat revealed that he and Albedo were exchanging letters.
Delvi then spread a rumor that the Sorcerer Kingdom, despite having only E-Rantel as a city, produces an enormous amount of food comparable to their kingdom. Accordingly, the Sorcerer Kingdom is constantly cultivating crops with the help of the undead.
Not only that, but the Sorcerer Kingdom is selling the crops at a lower price, threatening Philip and the other barons' livelihoods. As a result, the three barons devised a perfect plan to save their failing livelihood.
Back in Nazarick, Albedo realizes that, despite their success in conquering new territories, they lack manpower. When Albedo saw the report on the problems encountered during the transport of aid to the Theocracy, her thoughts on public affairs came to a halt.
Ainz, on the other hand, is walking alongside Pandora's Actor disguised as Momon and Narberal Gamma. This is to demonstrate to the citizens of E-Rantel that he is friendly with the adventurer Momon.
Entoma abruptly summoned Ainz to return to Nazarick immediately, as Albedo had ordered. The NPC guardians greeted him there.
A foolish noble stole the crops they were sending to the Theocracy, according to Albedo. They robbed their carriages, putting an end to their operation.
Philip Montserrat, it turns out, was the mastermind behind the robbery. As a result, Ainz wonders if it is a Re-Este Kingdom ploy, a failed attempt by the Eight Fingers, or a plan devised by Philip on his own.
Albedo summoned Hilma Cygnaeus in front of Ainz to explain on Philip Montserrat's behalf. While Albedo insisted Hilma was to blame, Ainz used his Dominate spell to discover the truth. Thankfully, Hilma is not guilty. However, Albedo is furious.
A superior, according to Albedo, is responsible for the mistakes of her subordinates. Ainz agrees with Albedo but adds that he is also responsible because he supervises all of them. As punishment, Ainz ordered Hilma to provide a solution to the problem at hand.
Because of Ainz's actions, Hilma decided to pledge her undying devotion to the Sorcerer King. Ainz forced Albedo to reveal the details of Operation Carrot and Stick to the rest of the NPC guardians back in Nazarick.
Albedo informed everyone that they intend to invade the Re-Estize Kingdom by inciting a civil war in order to peacefully absorb the Kingdom's citizens. However, instead of starting a war, the foolish noble attempted to attack the Sorcerer Kingdom.
While the NPC guardians deliberate on how to solve the problem, Ainz is left hanging in the background. He, of all people, had no idea what was going on in the first place! Despite this, the NPC guardians continued to praise Ainz's name, intellect, and glory.
Demiurge is left to put everything back together because Ainz doesn't understand what's going on. While Ainz is confused, Demiurge continues and decides that the punishment for Re-Estize Kingdom should be increased in a more destructive way.
After all, they had attacked the caravan bearing Nazarick's flag. For them, this can only mean war. They should be cautious, however, if there is someone smarter and stronger than them on the sidelines.
Zanac convened a royal court meeting with the king and other nobles in the Re-Estize Kingdom.
The Sorcerer Kingdom, together with the Baharuth Empire, Dragon Kingdom, Dwarf Kingdom, Sacred Kingdom, and the equally powerful Faceless, have all signed and sealed a letter of complaint to the Re-Estize Kingdom.
Only one thing can happen if the Re-Estize Kingdom does not make amends to the Sorcerer Kingdom. War would arrive at their doorstep. To prevent this, Zanac proposes that Philip Montserrat be silenced by offering his head to the Sorcerer Kingdom. The King, however, rejected Zanac's proposal.
While the Minister of Interior Affairs proposed that the empire become a vassal state, the King saw the idea as an insult to the lives lost in the battle of Katze Plains.
Finally, the king informed everyone that he had a grand idea. The news of Albedo's unexpected arrival in the Kingdom shocked everyone before he could even share it.
