Oshi no Ko’s next season is just a few months away from its premiere, but before it begins, fans can look forward to a special showcase. Recently, it was announced that an Oshi no Ko season 2 livestream starring MEMcho and a popular streamer will happen next week.
This stream was revealed via the show’s official global X (formerly Twitter) account, likely meaning it will have English subtitles for fans outside of Japan.
While there’s no official word yet on who the special guest will be, the announcement does give us a clue about what to expect.
Oshi no Ko Teases Season 2 Livestream with MEMcho and Popular VTuber
2023 had lots of big new anime, and Oshi no Ko was no doubt one of the most popular of the year. After all, its hour-long premiere episode became a huge trending topic in the online anime space.
Thanks to the show’s success, a second season was quickly announced following the season 1 finale. Fans were also delighted by the fact that season 2 will air in summer 2024.
To hype up its upcoming premiere, Oshi no Ko season 2 will have a special livestream starring MEMcho, and she will be joined by a popular streamer.
Based on the stream’s description, the premise is that MEMcho is looking to become an even more popular YouTuber, so she decided to become the apprentice of a popular streamer.
The announcement did not reveal who the guest streamer will be, but the teaser visual coupled with another post on X hinted that Nijisanji’s Sara Hoshikawa will appear in the stream.

Sara Hoshikawa is a Japanese VTuber under Nijisanji, one of Japan’s biggest Virtual YouTuber agencies. Hoshikawa debuted in October 2019 and has since become one of Nijisanji’s most popular talents.
Aside from being well-known for her video game streams, Hoshikawa also has many songs and covers on her official channel, including a cover of Oshi no Ko’s opening song, Idol.
Oshi no Ko collaborating with a VTuber is no surprise, as the series is about the modern Japanese entertainment industry. In fact, the manga’s later arcs feature an important VTuber character.
What’s more, series co-creator Aka Akasaka is a noted fan of VTubers, to the point that he has appeared as a guest in many VTuber streams.
The upcoming MEMcho stream will happen on April 22 at 6:00 PM JST (2:00 AM PT / 5:00 AM ET). It will go live on the anime’s official YouTube channel. As for season 2, it will premiere in July 2024.
