One Piece: Sanji Actor Admits Feeling Pressured by Netflix Series Role

There is little doubt that being cast in the live-action adaptation of a famous manga and anime franchise is something to be excited about. However, it's not always all fun and games. Taz Skylar has just admitted that he immediately felt the pressure when it was announced that he will portray Vinsmoke Sanji in Netflix's One Piece series. In addition to that, Skylar shared the preparations he made to play the resident cook of the Straw Hat Pirates!

Back in November, Taz Skylar was one of the actors confirmed to join Netflix's live-action adaptation of One Piece. Although he and his co-stars appeared thrilled about the casting, Skylar has admitted to Nuit magazine that he soon felt pressured by the idea.

“I wasn’t at first,” Skylar said when asked about feeling pressured. “Then I went through a few months leading up to the announcement where I did start to feel the pressure and the anticipation build up in a negative way.”

He went on to point out that his schedule became more hectic as he prepared for play Sanji.

“There was also just a lot to juggle. I was in Hamlet at The Young Vic whilst also doing two to three hours of Tae-Kwon-Do training a day plus chef training after the show in the evenings and it was a lot to handle whilst also trying to keep my centre of gravity as a human,” Skylar said.

It may have been difficult at first but Skylar now takes it in stride.

“But now, I’ve reached a point where I’m just kinda like… 'You’re just gonna do your f-cking best bro' and whatever happens fucking happens,” he said.

It's great to know that Skylar has found a way to feel more confident about playing Sanji. Needless to say, we can't wait to see him in action in the One Piece series.

One Piece also stars Iñaki Godoy as Monkey D. Luffy, Mackenyu Arata as Roronoa Zoro, Emily Rudd as Nami, and Jacob Romero Gibson as Usopp. The series has not yet been given an official release date. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.
