We're still waiting for the first season of the One Piece live-action series but the cast is already looking towards the future. Sanji actor Taz Skylar shared his hopes for the show after the first season, and he's eager to see the series last almost as long as the anime.

Taz Skylar Shares Hopes for One Piece Live-Action Series Beyond Season 1

It has already been confirmed that the first season of One Piece will consist of eight hour-long episodes. But how many seasons could the live-action adaptation last?

Taz Skylar thought carefully about the question before giving a cautiously hopeful response.

"I'd like it to go for exactly as long as it takes to feel like it's come to an ending that all of us are happy—and by us, I mean the greater “us” of us five and every single person involved," Skylar told Collider.

"I want everybody to be proud of where we end up ending," he added. "I don't want it to end short, and I don't want it to run long. That's my ideal."

Not surprisingly, Skylar's co-stars Iñaki Godoy and Mackenyu agreed with the idea. After all, it would be best to keep the show going as long as everyone involved wants to continue.

It's also a valid question considering that One Piece is one of the longest-running manga out there and it has an anime to match. Although it would be great to see Skylar and his co-stars play the Straw Hats Pirates for the next 30 years in an effort to keep up with the source material, it's highly unlikely that the cast could remain the same until 2053.

One Piece will star Iñaki Godoy as Monkey D. Luffy, Mackenyu as Roronoa Zoro, Emily Rudd as Nami, Jacob Romero Gibson as Usopp, and Taz Skylar as Vinsmoke Sanji.

One Piece will premiere on Netflix on August 31, 2023.
