Ahead of the film’s release this August, a One Piece Film: Red music video teaser was released on the film’s official YouTube channel.

This short but stylish teaser gives us a taste of the upcoming music video for the song entitled “Backlight” sung by Ado, the voice of the film’s main heroine, Uta.

The Backlight music video is the third in a series of music videos following the release of “I am the Strongest” and "New Era,” both of which were released on Ado’s official channel.

If you’re wondering why One Piece Film: Red is getting music video releases, that’s because music is a big part of the upcoming movie.

Specifically, the film’s main heroine, Uta, is the world’s greatest diva and will play a central role in the movie.

In the film’s story, the Straw Hat crew, pirates, and fans from all over the world gather on the “Island of Music“ Elegia where Uta will hold her first-ever live concert. Though it is soon revealed that Uta is the daughter of Shanks.

The upcoming One Piece movie features two voices for Uta. Voicing her dialogue is Kaori Nazuka (Nunnally Lamperouge in Code Geass). Meanwhile, Japanese singer Ado is the singing voice of Uta in her musical performances.

As Uta is a singer and central character in the movie, One Piece Film: Red will feature seven songs. The song “Backlight” is one of the songs featured in the movie.

Alongside Ado, Japanese singer-songwriter Vaundy also worked on the new song. He mentioned that he is looking forward to seeing the finished work as he considers Backlight as a song that “can reflect 100% of Ado's powerful singing voice” (via Comic Natalie).

The full Backlight music video will premiere on July 6, 2022, at 7 PM JST (6 AM EST) on Ado’s official YouTube channel. Though you can listen to the song right now as has already been released.

One Piece Film: Red is set to release in Japanese cinemas on August 6, 2022. The film will then release internationally in Fall 2022.
