It looks like everyone and their moms decided to buy the latest volume of One Piece. Volume 102 has just pushed the manga to the top spot of the Oricon Weekly Chart this week, narrowly defeating Jujutsu Kaisen!
There is little doubt that One Piece Volume 102 and Jujutsu Kaisen Volume 19 are the most highly anticipated manga titles that were released on Monday, April 4, 2022. After all, there has been a lot of hype for the tankobons, thanks to One Piece's recent news livestream and Jujutsu Kaisen celebrating its fourth anniversary later in April. With that in mind, it only makes sense that both mangas are selling like hotcakes.
But who sold the most copies this week? It has been announced that One Piece Volume 102 has sold over 263,923 copies from March 28 to April 3, allowing the tankobon to take the top spot of Oricon's Weekly Chart by Series.
This is an awesome feat but One Piece only narrowly defeated Jujutsu Kaisen this week. The manga's Volume 19 sold 204,338 during the same period, effectively taking the second spot. This means that One Piece outsold Jujutsu Kaisen by 59,585 copies. Now, we'll have to wait until next week to find out if One Piece can maintain the top spot.
It's hard to tell which manga will sell more copies for now but both titles are truly exciting ones for fans. Jujutsu Kaisen 19 features the first chapters of the Tokyo No. 1 Colony arc while One Piece Volume 102 features the action-packed chapters Sanji vs. Queen and Zoro vs. King. Overall, the real winner would be Shueisha who publishes both titles.
In the meantime, One Piece has more good news for fans. It has been announced that the anime is ready to resume broadcasting and that the next episode will air next week.
One Piece Volume 102 and Jujutsu Kaisen Volume 19 are out now. One Piece Episode 1014 will premiere on Sunday, April 17, 2022.
