One Piece Chapter 1061 Recap
The latest chapter cover depicts the Germa 66 and Caesar Clown flying away from the battlefield where Katakuri and Oven fought.
Luffy begins the chapter by saving Chopper and Jewelry Bonney from being blown away.
While the Straw Hats were relieved that everyone had been saved, Jewelry Bonney screamed at the top of her lungs that something was just beneath them.
It turned out to be a massive sea creature about to swallow the Thousand Sunny whole.
Despite being sent into the air, the Thousand Sunny managed to avoid the sea creature's attack.
According to Zoro, the sea creature resembles a shark, but it is enormous and made of steel.
When they made a rough landing, Luffy and the others fell into the sea, despite Jinbe's warnings to stay still.
Jinbe asks Franky to take the helm and steer the ship over to their location to assist them.
Franky took the helm and began using the propellers to help them get away from the mechanical shark as quickly as possible.
Suddenly, the mechanical shark launched missiles directly at the Thousand Sunny, causing the ship to capsize and dumping the rest of the crew into the sea.
Jinbe heard the explosion as he was trying to save Luffy, Chopper, and Jewelry Bonney from drowning.
When he resurfaced, Jinbe was surprised to see a tremendous current caused by the explosion.
Suddenly, a metal shark appeared in front of Jinbe, with a cannon in its mouth.
To avoid the attack, Jinbe told Luffy and the others to hold their breath because they were about to dive back into the sea.
The Straw Hat Pirates couldn't get out of the water because the waves were too strong.
At this point, a Vega Force 1 robot appeared and punched the metal shark.
On a nearby island at G-14 Naval Base, Tashigi informs the children that it is time for their medicine.
Tashigi refers to the gigantic children being fed with medicine by the marines.
One of the children commented that they'd shrunk significantly, to which Tashigi replied that she couldn't even recognize them.
The G-14 Commander, Vice Admiral Doll, appeared and asked Tashigi to talk for a second.
Doll mentioned Helmeppo's nagging and asked Tashigi to take action.
Tashigi, on the other hand, sympathizes with Helmeppo because his best friend's life is in danger.
She is also concerned about Koby, who is her junior in the marines.
The narrative shifted to Helmeppo and Hibari pleading with Rear Admiral Prince Grus to take their concerns seriously.
Helmeppo begs Prince Grus to accompany him to Pirate Island, which the latter dismisses as Blackbeard's domain.
If he agrees to accompany Helmeppo, they will be swarmed by pirates in no time.
Nonetheless, Helmeppo begs Prince Grus to send a Seraphim because Egghead Island is so close.
However, Prince Grus rejected Helmeppo once more and told him to calm down because they are currently unable to act for Drake is still missing.
Meanwhile, Luffy, Jinbe, Chopper, and Bonney have regrouped inside a cave.
Jewelry Bonney is surprised that Luffy does not recognize her. They were both in the Sabaody Archipelago two years ago, and she is a member of the Worst Generation Pirates.
Nonetheless, Bonney thanked him for saving her life. She did, however, emphasize that they were still enemies.
She then inquires about Luffy's hair, which was supposed to be white on the wanted posters.
Luffy responds to Bonney by saying that his hair looks like that when he's completely free, which the latter does not understand.
Then, when Bonney asked Luffy about the rest of his crew, he was surprised to see that the Knight of the Sea was also with him.
Jinbe interjected, asking Bonney what had happened to her own crew.
In response, Bonney informed Jinbe that she had arrived alone and that her ship had been devoured by a metal shark.
To deviate from the topic, Bonney mentioned that she was hungry, to which Luffy and Chopper agreed.
While Luffy and Chopper were thrilled to find a restaurant, Bonney stopped them, for they were in Egghead, a government island known to be 500 years in the future.
Bonney goes on to say that Dr. Vegapunk's research laboratory is on the island and that Vegapunk is the reason she's here.
On the other hand, Franky, Nami, Robin, Zoro, Sanji, and Brook watch as another giant robot appears, holding the Thousand Sunny in mid-air with its robot hands.
A woman emerges from the robot and remarks that the metal shark was yet another failure on her side, even after she overrides its primal desires.
The woman continues monologuing on how she ordered the metal shark to scout, report, and fire but still keeps on trying to eat ships as if the Straw Hats were not there.
While Franky thanks Vegapunk for saving their lives, Vegapunk tells them how naïve they were to think that she was truly saving them.
As it turns out, Dr. Vegapunk works for the government despite its mediocrity.
She also introduced herself and told the Straw Hats how she is known to be the government’s scientific genius, much to the surprise of everyone.
