One Piece Chapter 1,040 Recap
Kid shoots his electromagnetic cannon and sends Big Mom falling through Onigashima. However, Big Mom still manages to resist falling down completely. She uses the Soul Pocus in an attempt to take the life spans of the people around her. While everyone else is running away, Kid and Law stand their ground, unafraid.
Misery tries to save Big Mom, but Law uses a technique similar to Corazon's, making the bubble surrounding Big Mom completely silent. Kid follows up with another shot from his cannon. Big Mom starts falling down through the island. As she reaches the basement armory, Yamato sees her.
Big Mom grabs hold of one of the bombs, setting it off. Yamato freezes a part of the explosion to lessen the damage. Kanjuro's flame monster calls for Orochi and gets weakened by the blast.
As Big Mom is falling down the sky, she remembers Roger. She's frustrated with the new era that Roger began since she's the one who has to deal with them. She starts thinking about the One Piece and how some of it might be in Wano. Before she hits the ground and makes a massive explosion, she curses Kid and Law, saying that they will pay for what they've done and this won't kill her.
The narration declares Eustass Kid and Trafalgar Law as the winners. Their respective crews cheer for them. Meanwhile, Yamato and Momonosuke finally meet again.
Yamato informs him that a bomb destroyed the bottom of the island, but he managed to save the armory by freezing the bombs. Momonosuke tells him that Zunesha is near. Yamato has read about the elephant in Oden's journal, and Momonosuke says that's the right one. He also reveals that Zunesha is Joy Boy's companion, who committed a crime 800 years ago.

One Piece Chapter 1,041 Spoilers, Summary
Following the events of the last chapter, Momonosuke informs Yamato about his chat with Zunesha. Although, he still doesn't know much about Zunesha's past crimes. Currently, Zunesha is by the World Government ships but hasn't done anything to them yet and is waiting for Momonosuke's orders.
Yamato is amazed that Momonosuke can talk to Zunesha. He tells him that he's "the one who will bring this world to its dawn," but Momonosuke doesn't think that's precisely the case. He tells Yamato that he knows he can't die now, but Oden himself ripped out the critical part of the journal regarding Laugh Tale. Now he's conflicted since he doesn't know his father's real objectives were.
Meanwhile, Fukurokuju has lost the battle against Raizo. Elsewhere, Orochi is getting annoyed because Fukurokuju hasn't come to him yet. At this point, he's already wondering what could've happened. He tells Komurasaki (Hiyori) to stop playing and asks why she's wearing a mask, doubting her identity.
A part of the roof collapses on Orochi, and he gets stuck. When he asks for help, Hiyori says Orochi didn't notice she stabbed him with a Sea Prism stone, so he can't transform.
She has a flashback from when Oden told her that he liked a specific song, and she promised to play it better. She reveals that Orochi's favorite song is the song that her father, Kozuki Oden, appreciated.
As for Izou and the CP0, they both attack and injure each other pretty badly. The CP0 boss is wondering why Whitebeard's crewmembers are helping out Luffy. The CP0 boss also gets a call, saying Luffy needs to be eliminated immediately. Apparently, the order from the Five Elders is to "prevent what might happen."
Meanwhile, the rest of the Straw Hats and allies are finding a way to escape from all the chaos. Law and Kid are tired from the fight with Big Mom.
Kaido and Luffy continue to fight, and Kaido notices that Big Mom has been defeated. He remembers the time when they first met. Kaido starts his drunk crying mode.
Luffy attacks with a new technique called Gear Fourth: Snakeman (Gomu Gomu no Hydra). He says that he's surely going to kick Kaido out of Wano.
