One Piece Card Game Announced by Bandai Namco

As part of One Piece's 25th anniversary, Bandai has announced an official One Piece card game, featuring characters from throughout the long-running anime's history. The new card game is officially called One Piece Card Game, and it will be released in Japan in July 2022 and worldwide later this year.

Bandai didn't share additional details about the One Piece Card Game, other than the cards would feature artwork from Eiichiro Oda massively popular manga and anime series, and that there will be multiple starter decks and expansions planned.

Initially, there will be four Starter Decks, each of which are themed around a different One Piece faction. The initial Starter Decks include the Straw Hat Pirates, the Worst Generation, the Animal Kingdom Pirates, and the Seven Warlords of the Sea. Players can collect acquire cards by purchasing Romance Dawn booster packs, named after the initial arc in One Piece.

It looks like the One Piece Card Game will be mixing both the past and present elements of the best-selling manga series. While the first card set is named after the opening arc of One Piece, the Starter Decks feature characters that show up much later in the storyline, such as the story's current antagonist, Kaido.
