One of DC's Best Artists Has Jumped Ship to Marvel Comics

Patrick Gleason has drawn and written some of DC's best comics in the modern era, like Batman and Robin, Robin: Son of Batman, Superman, and Young Justice. Now, the creator sets his sights on DC's direct competition as the creator officially announced that he will now be working for Marvel. This is pretty surprising but considering how David Marquez jumped to DC not too long ago, it seems like both companies are gobbling up whatever artist/writer they can.

The announcement was made during Fan Expo Dallas, where Marvel unveiled a look at the upcoming future of Marvel Comics with an image from Gleason. As if that wasn't enough reason to get excited for this acquisition, it was also announced that Gleason will be the new artist of Amazing Spider-Man, which is huge.

It seems like Marvel will be using Gleason primarily as an artist, though many are hoping that they will use him as a writer as well. Gleason has written the aforementioned Robin: Son of Batman series, which got a lot of acclaim at the time. He also co-wrote a number of Superman issues with Peter J. Tomasi, which was a run that many fans loved.

Patrick Gleason will debut in Marvel this July with a short story in the over-sized Amazing Spider-Man #25.
