Old School Magic: The Gathering Cards Featured in New Japanese Manga Chapter

The ninth chapter of Subete no Jinsei wo Hakai Suru. Sorera wa Saisei Dekinai (Destroy All Humankind. They Can't Be Regenerated.) has been released in Japan, and the Magic: The Gathering-themed manga series by Yokota Takuma and Ise Katsura has featured more old school Magic cards that longtime fans would be familiar with.

The "youth graffiti" manga centers on two Magic: The Gathering players in the 1990s, and in the latest chapter, we see the badass female protagonist named Emi-Chan battle an opponent who runs mostly green insect cards like "Spike Hatcher", "Eldamri's Graveyard", and "Oath of Druids" while Emi-Chan plays white cards like "Tithe", "Cloudchaser Eagle", and "Empyrial Armor".

The MTG creatures are brought to life in the manga Yu-Gi-Oh!-style, and Emi-Chan ends up winning the whole DCI-sanctioned tournament thanks to the "Cataclysm" card.

This manga series brings back a lot of nostalgia to Magic fans who've been playing the game since the 1990's. While its storyline may not be as serious or as epic as the Yu-Gi-Oh! manga by Kazuki Takahashi, it's still nice to see that the fans in the anime/manga community are also interested in Magic.
