The Star Wars franchise produced yet another successful show with Obi-Wan Kenobi which aired its action-packed finale yesterday. Fans are still incredibly hyped following the “rematch of the century” between Obi-Wan and Anakin Skywalker aka Darth Vader and their duel alone felt like a scene from a feature-length film.

Of course, it no longer comes as a surprise because a lot of money goes into making such projects. However, you’ll be surprised to learn about the show’s actual production budget.

According to a report from Star Wars Garrison, the hit Disney+ series was only given a budget of $90 million which is $10 million lower than shows like The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett.

For comparison, Marvel Studios’ Disney+ offerings like Moon Knight and Ms. Marvel were given $165+ million and $150+ million respectively.

Even shows from the Star Trek universe beat Obi-Wan Kenobi’s budget and they were given $150 million each which sounds crazy given the fact that they’re under the same genre.

Considering a project like Obi-Wan Kenobi relies heavily on the combination of special and practical effects, one would assume that Disney will actually provide the show with a budget similar to the Marvel shows.

It still managed to deliver and at the end of the day, that’s all that matters. I gotta say though, hopefully the production budget for the rumored second season will be much bigger because the creative minds behind the show deserve it.

That said, all episodes of Obi-Wan Kenobi are now available for streaming on Disney+.
