Obi-Wan Kenobi Series Reportedly Wraps Filming

The entire Star Wars franchise is benefitting big time from Disney's decision to expand its streaming library via Disney+ and following the massive success of The Mandalorian, it's not too surprising how Lucasfilm pretty much jumped the gun on several projects that will soon premiere in the popular service. One of the shows fans are uber excited about is the upcoming Obi-Wan Kenobi series which will see the grand comeback of Ewan McGregor and Hayden Christensen.

The much-awaited project began its production earlier this year but due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, work had to be temporarily halted. The show's production even reportedly affected the start date of The Mandalorian Season 3's filming which was set to kick off back in April.

According to a new report from LRM, principal photography for Lucasfilm's upcoming Disney+ series has already been completed with post-production set to kickstart real soon. As of writing, there's no word yet if the show will require reshoots or additional photography but that one is a common standard these days so don't be surprised if the production company goes back to filming in the coming months.

Set for release sometime in 2022, Obi-Wan is definitely one of the Lucasfilm shows to watch out for because it chronicles the events that transpired after Revenge of the Sith, something that the Skywalker saga never delved into. I'm beyond excited to see how Obi-Wan handles all the trauma brought upon by his tainted relationship with Anakin and his former apprentice accepting his fate as Darth Vader.

No official release date for Obi-Wan has been announced.
