No Way Home Star Tom Holland Is More Proud of How Well The Film Was Received Than the Box Office Records

A lot of big-budget blockbuster films are also called “crowd-pleasers” for a reason, and there are some times when one of those designations is more true than the other. For instance, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, made over $800 million but the movie had divided reviews. John Carter flopped at the box office, even though a lot of people who loved it still talked about the movie as a modern-day cult classic. Other times, you get both – and that’s what the Spider-Man actor, Tom Holland, is enjoying No Way Home. Still, the Spider-Man star says he would rather have the fans enjoy the film than make a bunch of money.

It is a very nice sentiment, especially from Tom Holland, who became beloved by a lot of Marvel fans for seeming like such an approachable guy, and a fan himself. In a recent interview with The BBC’s The Zoe Ball Breakfast Show, Tom Holland talked about the distinction between the two.

"It's been a really interesting time. While we were making the film, we were all pretty confident that we had our hands on something really special but I don't think we could ever have known it would be as special as it has been," Holland said to the host. "Take the box office out of the equation, the thing that I'm the happiest about and also the most proud of is how well-received the film has been from the fans. The videos of the fans watching the film in the theater when Andrew shows up and when Tobey shows up, and to feel that kind of nostalgic energy go through three different generations of cinema, has been very rewarding and an incredible thing to be a part of."

The film was first released in US theaters back on December 17, 2021. The film stars Tom Holland, Benedict Cumberbatch, Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, Alfred Molina, Willem Dafoe, Jamie Foxx, and Marisa Tomei. You can still catch the latest addition to the MCU franchise in theaters now.
