No Way Home’s First Streaming Service Will Not Be on Netflix or Disney+

The first streaming service for Spider-Man: No Way Home has finally been confirmed, and it won’t be on Disney+ or Netflix. Instead of the two streaming giants, it has been revealed that they will be released first on Starz "sometime over the next six months."

In a recent interview with Deadline, the CEO of Starz Jeffrey Hirsch was asked about Starz’s "role of movies versus series." While movies in the streaming platform provided it with a big jump in viewers, they usually fade much quicker than TV shows do.

“Ours is a retention game, not an acquisition game,” Hirsch said in the interview.“Lining up content week to week, 52 weeks a year. Seeking to move our core audience from one show to the next.”

Hirsch also continued to say that although the viewers tend to visit the streaming platform for the original series, Starz has a lot more films than series. With all those facts considered, Jeffrey Hirsch hopes movies like Spider-Man: No Way Home - which is set to arrive on the streaming platform in the next six months - will invite a lot more people into Starz and that the original content released on the platform will make the viewers stay.

“You put the right shows and content around it so you can move customers that watch Spider-Man into one of your originals," he said.

A lot of fans are hoping that Spider-Man: No Way Home would be released to Disney+ and Netflix in the near future, especially with all the deals Sony made with the two streaming services. However, Sony’s deals with the two platforms only covered films from 2022 to 2026. Their deals did not cover Spider-Man: No Way Home as the film was released in 2021.

As of now, we only know that future Spider-Man movies will first be released on Netflix and then Disney+, but it is still unclear whether No Way Home will make it to those platforms.

Spider-Man: No Way Home was exclusively released in theaters back on December 17, 2021.
