Nintendo Direct Postponed In The Wake Of Hokkaido Earthquake

Nintendo has just announced that the Nintendo Direct presentation scheduled for September 6 is postponed after the devastating effect of a massive earthquake on Hokkaido, Japan. The announcement was made on all of the company's social media accounts.

The announcement is brief but it resonates deeply with Nintendo fans around the globe. Although it is unclear when the new time and date will be revealed, it's safe to say that Nintendo will be taking its time before making any further announcements.

Hokkaido was hit by the intense magnitude 6.7 earthquake at 3:08 AM on Thursday. The quake left seven people dead and several others injured. According to CBS News, 30 people are still unaccounted for. The island is currently covered in darkness due to power systems being disabled by the earthquake.

The natural disaster came only two days after Japan dealt with Typhoon Jebi, which is said to be the strongest storm the country has experienced in over 25 years. The country is still struggling with intense flooding that has left thousands of people stranded, as per The Guardian. The typhoon has also affected the Nintendo headquarters, which is located in Kyoto.

Nintendo is certainly a company that takes pride in its humble beginnings in Japan so it is understandable that the establishment is determined to put its people ahead of the scheduled Nintendo Direct presentation. Hopefully, the company and the whole of Japan will be able to recover and rise above this year's tragedy.
