Nintendo Announces New Pokemon Sword and Shield Games In Reveal Trailer

Big things are happening at Pokemon Day! Nintendo has just unveiled a pair of new games Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield in an awesome reveal trailer.

The exciting new games will be set in a new region called Galar that resembles Britain and will feature new starter creatures (via Gamespot). The trailer shows off a grass monkey named Grookey, a fire bunny named Scorbunny, and a water lizard named Sobble. Gameplay is still uncertain but it appears that there will be random encounters and Pikachu might even make an appearance.

Interestingly, Pokemon Sword and Shield were announced on the anniversary of Pokemon Red and Green. The new games are set to launch Generation 8 and will be available later this year.

Pokemon Sword and Shield are both directed by Shigeru Ohmori, who previously worked on Sun and Moon.

The games were previously teased during E3 2017 although everything about them was veiled in mystery. Nevertheless, it's awesome to see that Sword and Shield are keeping some key elements while introducing Pokemon to a new generation.

The announcement of the new games might just be the beginning for Pokemon Day. Pokemon Go is also set for its own major event where certain creatures will be spawning. Keep an eye out to get special Shiny versions of Rattata and Pidgey. Stay tuned for more updates from Pokemon Day.

Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield have not yet been given an official release date. However, both games are expected to be available on Nintendo Switch by late 2019.
