Pokemon: Detective Pikachu just released a new trailer today, and we get to see more footage of Ryan Reynolds as the titular Pokemon, and it looks like the Deadpool actor is taking the popular gaming and anime to the next level. Now, comic book creator Rob Liefeld has joined the hype.
Over on Instagram, the creator of Deadpool shared his own version of Detective Pikachu. Liefeld showed a colored sketch of the iconic Pokemon and he reveals that he isn't the only one in his home who's excited about the film.
"Can't wait to swim in the "pika-pika" pool with Detective Pikachu this summer! Excitement is high in my house for this one as I have at least one kid who far prefers #pokemon to DP," Liefeld wrote with the post.
As you can see in the image above, the colored sketch looks strangely different from the original Detective Pikachu. Pikachu's doe eyes have been replaced by tiny Deadpool faces.
Synopsis:
"The story begins when ace detective Harry Goodman goes mysteriously missing, prompting his 21-year-old son Tim to find out what happened. Aiding in the investigation is Harry's former Pokémon partner, Detective Pikachu: a hilariously wise-cracking, adorable super-sleuth who is a puzzlement even to himself. Finding that they are uniquely equipped to communicate with one another, Tim and Pikachu join forces on a thrilling adventure to unravel the tangled mystery. Chasing clues together through the neon-lit streets of Ryme City—a sprawling, modern metropolis where humans and Pokémon live side by side in a hyper-realistic live-action world—they encounter a diverse cast of Pokémon characters and uncover a shocking plot that could destroy this peaceful co-existence and threaten the whole Pokémon universe."
Detective Pikachu is set to release in theaters on May 10.
