Nicolas Cage Reveals How He Could Be Persuaded to Return as Ghost Rider

Nicolas Cage debuted in the role of a superhero as Johhny Blaze in 2007's Ghost Rider. Following the first film's success, the actor reprised his role in 2011's Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengence. Unfortunately, the film was met with negative reviews, resulting in the third film's cancellation with the rights reverted back to Marvel Studios.

Now that MCU's multiversal storyline can bring back previous actors to reprise their titular hero characters, Nicolas Cage's Ghost Rider is one of the characters fans want to see again. Most especially now that the MCU is crafting a supernatural lineup with characters like Moon Knight, Blade, and the upcoming Werewolf by Night, Cage's Ghost Rider could totally join the lineup.

Now, while promoting his latest film, The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent, Cage did an AMA on Reddit where he answered some fan questions. When asked what it would take for him to reprise his role as Ghost Rider, using the Lionsgate account on Reddit, Cage responded, "I would really need to see what they had in mind before answering that."

Nicolas Cage is rumored to appear in the MCU's highly-anticipated film Doctor Strange: Multiverse of Madness, but recently, the actor assured that he is not included in the film and that Marvel has not called him yet for any future projects. While Marvel currently has no active plans for Ghost Rider in the MCU, another rumor swirls that The Walking Dead star Norman Reedus is being eyed for the Ghost Rider role.

Now that the multiversal storyline can bring back past actors to their iconic superhero roles, like Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield in Spiderman: No Way Home, this opens up endless possibilities of any character's return, as long as Marvel wanted to. Now that Patrick Stewart's Professor X return is confirmed for Multiverse of Madness, it would still be a nice surprise if Ghost Rider made an appearance in the Doctor Strange sequel.

We can catch Nicolas Cage's latest film, The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent, premiering in theaters on April 15.
