Jessica Simpson’s ex Nick Lachey said he has no interest in reading his ex-wife’s memoir. The former “98 Degrees” band member explained that as far as he is concerned he has already lived through whatever Simpson has written in her latest book.

The 41-year-old singer and host appeared on the Andy Cohen’s SiriusXM program “Radio Andy” and talked about her ex-wife’s autobiography. Lachey said he had known for a while that Simpson would be releasing a new book but he said he never read it and he has no plans of ever reading it.

"Here’s the thing — obviously, I knew the book was coming out, but I lived the book. I know what the truth is, so I don’t need to read someone’s version of it in a story," Lachey told Cohen during the program.

Published Without Reaching Out To Him

In a previous interview, Lachey said that Simpson had not reached out to him before deciding to publish the book, which was released in February of last year. It is unclear if Simpson had reached out to Lachey when Amazon Studios approached her to bring her book to life on the small screen.

Lachey married Simpson in 2002 and was part of the reality television series, “Newlyweds: Nick and Jessica.” The show chronicled the married life of the two celebrities, often playing into Simpson’s apparent naïve personality, which was used as a gimmick.

The two eventually filed for divorce in Dec. 2005 before finalizing it in June 2006. Since then, both of them have moved on and remarried. Lachey went on to marry fellow “Love is Blind” co-host Vanessa Lachey, while Simpson married NFL athlete Eric Johnson.

I Don't Think About The Past Anymore

Lachey said during the radio show that he no longer really thinks about his past life, stating that it happened more than 20 years ago. He said what happened to them was the last thing on his mind and he only really thinks about it when something brings it up.

"I understand why people want to ask, but it’s so not a part of my life anymore that it’s not even on my radar," Lachey said.

Lachey said he is happy that his ex is doing her own thing because he is also doing his own thing. He added that it is the way things should be.

Part of Simpson’s memoir, titled “Open Book,” revealed how hurt she was because Lachey was able to move on with his life so quickly when they separated. Lachey began dating his now-wife less than a year after he finalized his divorce with Simpson.

Simpson said in her book that she was hurt by how quickly Lachey forgot about the love he had promised her and how “along in the dark” she was during that time.
