With the end of the year comes big reveals, and what bigger reveal than a new trailer for Steven Spielberg's adaptation for Ready Player One. We already have one awesome teaser for the film, and news has it that a second trailer could be dropped before the year ends.
Alberta Film Ratings has a list of upcoming trailers listed down on their site, and one of them is for the adaptation of Ernest Cline's pop-culture filled novel. As of now, we still don't have any release date, but we do know that a cut of the trailer exists and it will only be a matter of time before we get to see it.
Here's a synopsis for the film:
From filmmaker Steven Spielberg comes the science fiction action adventure "Ready Player One," based on Ernest Cline's bestseller of the same name, which has become a worldwide phenomenon. The film is set in 2045, with the world on the brink of chaos and collapse. But the people have found salvation in the OASIS, an expansive virtual reality universe created by the brilliant and eccentric James Halliday. When Halliday dies, he leaves his immense fortune to the first person to find a digital Easter egg he has hidden somewhere in the OASIS, sparking a contest that grips the entire world. When an unlikely young hero named Wade Watts decides to join the contest, he is hurled into a breakneck, reality-bending treasure hunt through a fantastical universe of mystery, discovery and danger.
I'm very excited for the film's release, and I've opted to skip out on the book so the movie would surprise me. So far I'm getting impressions that it's like a Charlie and the Chocolate Factory story but with video games, and I can't wait to see just how many pop-culture figures they were able to squeeze into the film.
Ready Player One is set for a release on March 30, 2018.
