New Trailer for Netflix’s The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina Makes it Feel Like a Sitcom

Sabrina the Teenage Witch was more popularly known as a comedy show about witches and wizards, but Netflix is going full Riverdale with their upcoming The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina. A new trailer has been released for the show and it actually feels more like a classic sitcom—save for all the blood sacrifices and coven rituals.

Here's the official synopsis:

Her name is Sabrina Spellman.

Half witch. Half mortal. On her 16th birthday, Sabrina (Kiernan Shipka) has to make a choice between the witch world of her family and the human world of her friends. With her aunties (Miranda Otto, Lucy Davis), her cat Salem, and her boyfriend Harvey Kinkle (Ross Lynch), Sabrina will face horrors and new adventures in the mysterious town of Greendale.

I'm guessing that the show is actually going to be more creepy than funny, but they made this trailer to entice fans of the original Sabrina the Teenage Witch. I do have to admit though, if the series doesn't take itself as seriously as Riverdale does, I would actually be way more interested. It would be like What We Do in the Shadows, a comedy taking place in a traditional horror setting.

So far, this is the only ‘lighthearted' trailer for Sabrina and it's sure to get more than just the horror lovers onboard by the time the show premieres.

With Stranger Things 3 skipping out this year, Netflix needs a new show to embrace the Halloween season and The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina definitely looks like it will fit the bill.

Catch The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina when it hits Netflix Oct. 26.
