New Trailer for Mulan Arriving Tomorrow, Poster Released

Disney's live-action Mulan has not been getting any good press as of late. After the call for the boycott and rumors of reshoots, things started looking pretty grim for the film; but that doesn't mean Disney isn't going to try and keep selling it.

News just in, a new trailer will be dropping for the movie tomorrow. This comes from @gavinfeng97 on Twitter:

What's more, we also get a new poster that puts Liu Yifei front and center:

Based on what's being said about the film, I'm honest worried about how the live-action Mulan will turn out. Nevermind the omission of the songs and Mushu; what I'm really concerned about is the feminist message that the original film was touting.

You see, in the original film, Mulan got ahead of everyone because she used her smarts. She wasn't a powerful warrior or had magic powers. In this new version, it's said that Mulan will be granted powers that put her ahead of the men, and this is why she becomes a great soldier.

Of course, this is just based on rumors, but based on what we're seeing in the film, Mulan is going to be doing a lot of kung fu action.

If anything, I'm waiting for this movie to prove me wrong. I don't want movies to be bad, though they sometimes turn out that way. The good news is, the animated version still holds up, and you can always watch that film instead if this live-action version isn't your cup of tea.

Catch Mulan when it hits theaters March 27, 2020.
