New Still from Star Wars: The Clone Wars Gives Us a Look at ‘The Bad Batch’

Though the show may have been canceled for a while, Star Wars: The Clone Wars is set to come back with its final season on Disney+ next month. Just in, we have a new still from the show that gives us a look at the reject clone company, the Bad Batch.

This comes from Entertainment Weekly:

Originally intended to be the seventh season premiere, The Bad Batch was an unfinished episode about a bunch of clones that were deemed imperfect and therefore placed in their own special unit called Clone Force 99 a.k.a. The Bad Batch. The clones of this company had genetic mutations and unorthodox fighting tactics, making them the black sheep of the Clone Army.

In the coming episode, it's said that Clone Force 99 will be teaming up with clone commander Rex to "infiltrate an enemy base on Anaxes." Also expect the Bad Batch to make a return in the second episode, A Distant Echo where they will be working with Anakin Skywalker.

Probably one of the best things that the Clone Wars did for Star Wars was humanizing the clones. They all got their own unique personalities and appearances, and we get fan favorites like Captain Rex and Commander Cody. Though I think it could be an unpopular opinion, I liked the idea that the clones knew they were going to betray the Jedi from the get-go; I thought it was kind of cheap that they were programmed with microchips to betray Jedi when the order was given. Even the original Battlefront II wrote it in a way that the clones knew the Jedi were not their friends.

That's just my opinion anyway.
