New Star Trek: Discovery Comic-Con Trailer Teases War With Klingons

At a San Diego Comic Con 2017 panel, CBS showed off a new trailer for its upcoming series Star Trek: Discovery.

The trailer opens with first officer Michael Burnham (played by Sonequa Martin-Green), talking to Sarek (Spock's father and her mentor) about the threat of the Klingon Empire. Sarek insists that Klingons have been "in disarray for generations", and we get our first glimpse at Klingon cruisers. It looks like a war with the Klingons is inevitable. Last week, the producers of the show explained why the Klingons look different in the new series.

We also get more footage of Michlle Yeoh as Philippa Georgiou, captain of the USS Shenzhou, and Gabriel Lorca, captain of the USS Discovery (played by Jason Isaacs from the Harry Potter movie franchise). There's also footage of Harry Mudd (played by The Office's Rainn Wilson), a con-man originated in the Star Trek: The Original Series.

Star Trek: Discovery is set to premiere on CBS on September 24.
