New Red Band Clip for James Gunn’s Brightburn Will Make You Uneasy

Besides working on The Suicide Squad, James Gunn is attached as producer to this horror take on the superhero genre with Brightburn. The movie is set to come out later this month, and we have a new red band clip that will give us a taste of the film.

I have to warn you though, some of it is pretty hard to watch:

Though Gunn is probably most recognized now for his work on lighthearted movies like Guardians of the Galaxy, he's also kind of a horror and gore aficionado, working on films like Slither and Tromeo and Juliet. Even his first superhero film Super had a scene where half a character's face is blown off with a shotgun.

With Brightburn though, Gunn is only attached as producer, and the director is actually David Yarovesky. Elizabeth Banks is back from Slither though, and I bet there's a good chance that Nathan Fillion is also going to appear in the movie as well along with Michael Rooker.

What if a child from another world crash-landed on Earth, but instead of becoming a hero to mankind, he proved to be something far more sinister? With Brightburn, the visionary filmmaker of Guardians of the Galaxy and Slither presents a startling, subversive take on a radical new genre: superhero horror.

Catch Brightburn when it hits theaters May 24.
