New Pokemon Trading Card Game Expansion Adds Second Foil Card Per Booster Pack

The next Pokemon Trading Card Game expansion will include an extra rare card in every booster pack. According to The Pokemon Company, the US and European versions of the new Shining Legends expenasion will have two foil cards per booster pack. Usually, booster packs are guaranteed one rare card (foil or non-foil).

Shining Legends will feature the return of 'Shining' Cards, a card type not released in over a decade. Another thing special about Shining Legends is that the set won't be available to puchase in single packs, but instead, fans will have to buy special boxes that include multiple booster packs and several promo packs.

The boxed collection will cost about $16 each, but in addition to that, a "Premium Collection", which will cost around $80, contains 10 boosters, a playmat, 3 promo foil cards, and three collector boxes.

The bonus rare card in each pack is a great incentive for players to purchase one. This is similar to how Wizards of the Coast adds new "Masterpiece" cards in some Magic: The Gathering packs.

Shining Legends will have 73 new cards, and it will be available this October.
