New Pet Sematary Trailer Features Shocking Departure From Stephen King Novel

Anyone who has read Stephen King's book already knows what to expect in the upcoming Pet Sematary reboot. However, it looks like the second adaptation of the novel appears to be changing a lot of things about the story.

Spoilers Ahead! You Have Been Warned!

The new Pet Sematary trailer offers a look at the creepy area behind the cemetery that kids use to bury their beloved pets. We also get a glimpse at the symbols carved into trees that Jud Crandall confirms are "warnings" made by a local tribe before they left the woods.

Book readers already know that it is Gage Creed who dies after the cat Church is mysteriously resurrected. However, the trailer reveals that it will be his older sister Ellie Creed who will end up dead in the film. The teaser even confirms that Ellie will attack Jud as well as her own mother Rachel.

It's certainly a strange departure from the novel. Perhaps the producers felt that the change will give people something new to look forward to in the new adaptation.

Although we'll be seeing a different Creed child terrorizing our screens, we can rest assured that Zelda Goldman will still be giving us nightmares. The new version of Zelda seems even creepier in the trailer and we certainly can't wait to see just how she will traumatize Rachel in the movie.

The film stars Jason Clarke, Amy Seimetz, and John Lithgow. Jeté Laurence plays young Ellie while twins Hugo and Lucas Lavoie will portray Gage.

Pet Sematary hits theaters on April 5.
