New Nissa Planeswalker Card From Zendikar Possibly Leaked

The next Magic: The Gathering expansion Zendikar Rising is scheduled to release next month, and this will be the game's third visit to the plane of Zendikar and according to MTG head designer Mark Rosewater, this time the set will feature a world "without Eldrazi and revisit the adventure world players fell in love with".

Another Magic card from Zendikar Rising set may have been leaked, and it's one of the three Planeswalkers that will have a new card featured: Nissa!

Over on Reddit, a source has leaked a potential black green Nissa Planeswalker from Zendikar Rising, and it's worth noting that this comes from the same person who correctly leaked the features of Narset of the Ancient Way from Ikoria: Lair of Behemoths back in March, and the new Teferi, Master of Time from the recently released Core Set 2021. There's no associated image for the card, just text for the card's abilities, so there's no way to verify if card will actually be featured in the set.

Here's the leaked black green Nissa card. Once again, this is not the actual look of the card:

"Golgari Nissa" 2BG Landfall – Whenever a land enters the battlefield under your control, put a loyalty counter on Nissa. +1: Untap target land you control. It becomes a 3/3 Elemental creature with haste and menace until end of turn that's still a land. -5: Put a creature with converted mana cost equal to or less than the number of lands you control from your hand or graveyard onto the battlefield under your control with two +1/+1 counters on it. Starting Loyalty: 4

This is the second card leaked that's potentially from Zendikar Rising; the first one was Crawling Barrens, which was leaked just earlier this week. Wizards of the Coast hasn't confirmed if this card will be featured in the set, but Rosewater already revealed that Nissa will be one of the three Planeswalkers featured in the set. The other two are Jace and Nahiri.

If true, this leaked Nissa card would be the first Planeswalker to have a Landfall effect as an ability. Being able to put a creature card from your graveyard or hand into play with its -5 ability looks pretty useful in bringing out big creatures efficiently. I don't think it's as powerful as Nissa, Who Shakes the World but this potentially new Planeswalker card looks viable in Standard format.

Zendikar Rising is set to release on September 25, 2020; it will release on MTG Arena on Sept. 17.
