New Moonfall Trailer Shows Halle Berry and Patrick Wilson Saving the World from Annihilation

Roland Emmerich is known for directing several blockbuster disaster films such as Independence Day, The Day After Tomorrow, and 2012. Now, he has a new disaster tale that promises yet again another thrilling cinematic experience unleashing before our eyes. This time, it involves the moon crashing into the Earth.

Lionsgate has released the new trailer for the upcoming science-fiction disaster film Moonfall. Per the official logline, "A mysterious force knocks the Moon from its orbit around Earth and sends it hurtling on a collision course with life as we know it. With mere weeks before impact and the world on the brink of annihilation, NASA executive and former astronaut Jo Fowler (Halle Berry) is convinced she has the key to saving us all – but only one astronaut from her past, Brian Harper (Patrick Wilson) and conspiracy theorist K.C. Houseman (John Bradley) believe her. These unlikely heroes will mount an impossible last-ditch mission into space, leaving behind everyone they love, only to find out that our Moon is not what we think it is."

Based on the footage that we saw in the trailer, it seems to be a reminisce of Emmerich's past disaster films, particularly Independence Day and 2012 to some extent. It looks like another spectacle film with booms, explosions, gigantic natural disasters, and scientific events that may or may not violate the laws of physics and logic. It also seems that they are also going to explore the conspiracy theory surrounding the historical Apollo 11 mission. But there's no question that it might be a fun theatrical experience regardless and there's no denial that Emmerich can deliver a solid disaster film that most audiences will love (or hate).
