New Magic: The Gathering 'Modern' Product Announcement Coming This Month

Wizards of the Coast

Who said that Magic: The Gathering's Modern format is dead? With all the talk about the Mythic Championship, Magic Arena, and Standard lately, it's easy to assume that Wizards of the Coast are cutting support for the fan-favorite format but during a recent stream with The Professor of Tolarian Community College and Wizards of the Coast's Blake Rasmussen and Steve Sunu, that's probably not the case.

When the Professor asked if Wizards are phasing out Magic: The Gathering's Modern format, Sunu responded with "Fiction". Sunu went on to remind viewers to pay close look forward for an announcement this month: "I would ask that Modern people that are excited about the future of Modern, pay close attention in February."

You can watch the clip below:

We already know that it's not going to be another Masters set because Wizards already confirmed that Ultimate Masters was going to be the last Masters set in the foreseeable future. Many are guessing that it could be Modern Challenger Decks but Magic Head Designer Mark Rosewater that it's this year's "innovation product".

What do you think it could be? Share your thoughts in the comments section below.

Epicstream will keep you updated with the latest Magic news so look forward to that announcement this month.
