New Lucasfilm Docs Suggest Jyn Erso’s Big Role in Star Wars

Star Wars: The Force Awakens left a lot of mysteries in its wake that fans have tried to speculate upon. One of these ambiguities is Rey's parentage. In the wake of the latest trailer for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, fans have found several similarities with the movie's lead character Jyn Erso, and Rey from The Force Awakens, leading to rumors of their possible familial connection.

Daisy Ridley may have said that she doesn't think Rey's mom is Jyn, but according to TMZ, they have obtained accidentally leaked documents that have been filed by Lucasfilm lawyers. As noted by the site, these documents could suggest that Jyn may be a key player in the bigger Star Wars picture.

The leaked documents reportedly show Lucasfilm pushing to own all merchandising rights for a character named Jyn Erso, specifically rights for all clothing, footwear, toys, books, school supplies, and stationery.

The leaked docs were filed a day after the Rogue One trailer was released.

Because the documents were accidenatally leaked, Lucasfilm obviously doesn't want people to know about them.

Now the docs may mean nothing at all, but it could also mean that Jyn Erso will play a big role in Star Wars not just because she'll be heading the band of rebels who are tasked to steal the plans of the original Death Star in Rogue One. One big role in the saga is the woman who gave birth to the new trilogy's heroine.

Hopefully, her identity will be eventually revealed in Episodes VIII and IX.

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story hits theaters on December 16.
