The new trailer for the upcoming Sony's Spider-Man Universe (SSU) film Kraven the Hunter has been released ahead of its arrival in theaters this holiday season.
For the past few years, there has been anticipation for the upcoming Spider-Man spinoff movie as it will mark the debut of Aaron Taylor-Johnson as the fan-favorite villain.
It was also confirmed a while ago that the film will be R-rated, the first SSU project to do so, and it will be a deep character study of Kraven as an antihero figure similar to Venom movies.
Sony Releases New Kraven the Hunter Trailer
Today, the new trailer for Kraven the Hunter was dropped, giving fans another preview at the fan-favorite villain's long-awaited big-screen debut.
The brand new look at the upcoming SSU installment highlighted the movie's R-rated tone as it teased the violent action-packed scenes that the titular character will face throughout his journey.
It also gave us our very first look at the comic-accurate Rhino, who will be played in the film by Alessandro Nivola.
Kraven the Hunter was supposed to be released in theaters last year but was delayed due to the Hollywood labor strikes. It allowed the team to have strategic reshoots to sharpen the characters and tighten the plot.
Sony is said to be hoping that the film will be able to achieve the same success as the Tom Hardy-led Venom trilogy.
"I’m extremely proud of the work we have all done together on Kraven, and when the movie finally gets its chance to be seen I think it’s gonna surprise the hell out of a lot of people. As for what’s next for me, as always that’s up to the moviemaking gods," director J.C. Chandor said in a statement.
Kraven the Hunter is set to arrive in theaters this December 13.
