Todd Phillips' Joker is currently under production, and we've gotten some great footage of Joaquin Phoenix in full costume. Some new set photos put Phoenix in the same scene with Deadpool 2 actress Zazie Beetz, and it looks like the two characters are supposed to be close.

It's been said that Beetz is playing a character named Sophie Dumond who is said to be a tough single mother in Gotham City. A lot of people speculate that she's actually the wife of Phoenix's Arthur Fleck, and if anyone's read The Killing Joke, she's in for one tragic end—and end that will push Arthur to insanity.
This scene, however, looks like it may have taken place after Arthur suits up as the Joker. The vest could very much come from his costume, and he can be seen looking a bit manic in some photos. Then again, this is all just speculation. It's not like they shoot movies in order of the scenes that take place.
Reception for this Joker movie has been getting more and more positive the deeper we get into production. Initially fans scratched their heads over DC wanting to suddenly reboot the character, but now everyone is onboard with the alternate universe films that DC will be moving forward with in the future. Here's hoping that we get a Superman: Red Son or Batman: Red Mist sometime in the future.
Joker is set to come out Oct. 4, 2019.
