New Hellboy Trailer Coming Midnight, Poster Released

It's been months since the first trailer for the Hellboy reboot was released, and the reception so far has admittedly been divisive. Hopefully, a new trailer will change a lot of people's minds, and it's set to drop later tonight.

This was posted up by Hellboy creator Mike Mignola on Twitter:

Whenever a franchise gets rebooted, it's only natural that there would be haters that prefer to stick to the originally established universe. Heck, even until now, there are people who have frequently campaigned against both prequel and sequel trilogies of Star Wars. While I'm sad we didn't get to see a conclusion to Guillermo del Toro's Hellboy, I'm feeling optimistic about David Harbour's new take on the character.

On the bright side, if the movie fails, I'm sure Lionsgate will go back and consider making a third film in the del Toro storyline. After the bomb that was Ghostbusters 2016, Sony had decided to come back to the original Ghostbusters universe and make a reboot/sequel set to come out in 2020. No doubt they would do the same thing for Hellboy, counting that a lot of fans have expressed their demand for a more faithful follow-up.

Based on the graphic novels by Mike Mignola, Hellboy, caught between the worlds of the supernatural and human, battles an ancient sorceress bent on revenge.

Hellboy is set to hit theaters this April 12.
