New 'Elstree 1976' Trailer Highlights the Unsung Heroes of the Original Star Wars

A new trailer for Elstree 1976 has been released.

A documentary about the extras and supporting actors (basically people behind the costumed characters) of the original Star Wars trilogy, Elstree 1976 gives these unsung heroes a time to shine on the big screen.

Everyone knows the major players of the original trilogy – Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill, and Carrie Fisher, among others, but the new documentary focuses on the less known one because well, they deserve it.

Released via USA Today, the new Elstree 1976 trailer shows David Prowse (Darth Vader) and Jeremy Bulloch (Boba Fett) talking about their tours in conventions and fond memories from filming the original trilogy.

Lucas had it right when he said, as Bulloch quotes:

Welcome aboard. It's not a big role but I think you'll have some fun.

Elstree 1976 is helmed and written by Jon Spira. While the documentary records how the supporting actors and extras played significant roles in George Lucas' original trilogy, it also features how their lives were affected by the films.

Elstree 1976 is named after London’s Elstree Studios where Lucas filmed the original Star Wars.

This film certainly provides a much welcome sense of nostalgia on the old films, but I also like how it helps us appreciate the extras because without them, the beloved space opera series wouldn’t have been possible.

Elstree 1976 will be released in theaters and video-on-demand platforms on May 6.
