Dragon Ball has a long history so its complex list of characters can be confusing to fans but thankfully, a new chart has been released to help us keep track of them and it also added Vegeta's brother to the franchise's canon.
A family tree for Dragon Ball Super recently went live in honor of the upcoming film's debut and it shows the lineage of Goku and Vegeta. Below, you can see that the chart includes Vegeta's younger brother Tarble.
As explained in the chart, Tarble didn't get much attention because has low power levels: "Previously, King Vegeta judged him to be a noncombatant type Saiyan and sent him off to another planet in a capsule."
Several years ago, Tarble appeared in the special Yo! Son Goku and His Friends Return! but it wasn't made clear if he's part of the official Dragon Ball canon. It's good to know now that he's part of the canon thanks to the chart.
Official Synopsis of
Dragon Ball Super: Broly
This is the story of a new Saiyan. Earth is peaceful following the Tournament of Power. Realizing that the universes still hold many more strong people yet to see, Goku spends all his days training to reach even greater heights. Then one day, Goku and Vegeta are faced by a Saiyan called 'Broly' who they've never seen before. The Saiyans were supposed to have been almost completely wiped out in the destruction of Planet Vegeta, so what's this one doing on Earth? This encounter between the three Saiyans who have followed completely different destinies turns into a stupendous battle, with even Freeza (back from Hell) getting caught up in the mix.
