Today, Wizards of the Coast has announcedMagic Weekend, a rotating, quarterly, mid-season event described as "Draft innovation sets" and a chance "to experiment, once per season, with new ideas, formats, and even prizes". The first of these events is Ravnica Weekend: Guilds of Ravnica.

Local game stores are already planning the events for Ravnica Weekend: Guilds of Ravnica and Ravnica Weekend: Ravnica Allegiance. Ravnica Weekend: Guilds of Ravnica will run from November 9–11. The innovate format for this event is casual four-pack drafts, Guild Kit battles, and Dungeons & Dragons sessions based on Ravnica. (taken from Guildmaster's Guide to Ravnica). Prizes include foil basic lands and 11"x 14" prints—both of which celebrate the set's five guilds (Selesnya, Golgari, Boros, Dimir, and Izzet.)

Ravnica Weekend: Ravnica Allegiance will take place o February 16–17, 2019. According to Wizards, the format for this weekend will either be Standard, Draft, or Sealed (LGS's choice), and more Guild Kit battles and D&D sessions. Prizes will include foil full-art rares, more guild prints, foil guild lands, and a playmat.

It looks like the Wizards Play Network is changing a lot of things next year. Wizards went on to say that the Core Set 2019 Store Championship that happened last September will be the last event of its kind, so expect them to announce more innovative events coming in 2019.
