New Birds of Prey Trailer has a Fun Batman Easter Egg

As promised, a new trailer for Birds of Prey has dropped, and though we know that Harley is the main star of the show, we also have references to the larger DCEU in general. Harley's pet hyena was actually featured prominently in the first trailer, but this new trailer reveals that he's actually named after Batman.

By the end of the trailer, Harley reveals that her hyena's name is Bruce, and she specifically says that he's named after the "hunky Wayne guy." It's a neat reference, and it also kind of gives us an idea of how famous Bruce Wayne is outside of his Batman persona.

Rumor is actually going around that Batman has gone missing in the story for Birds of Prey. Again, this is just a rumor, but it would be interesting to see what happened to the main Batman of the DCEU, now with a new Batman set to come in with Robert Pattinson.

Just in case you haven't been following the news, it's also been confirmed that The Batman will take place on its own timeline, seeing that several other actors have been recast including Alfred (from Jeremy Irons to Andy Serkis) and Jim Gordon (from J.K. Simmons to Jeffrey Wright). With several other Justice League actors deciding to stay in their roles, I'm hopeful that Ben Affleck has a change of heart and decides to come back as the "main" Batman. Fingers crossed he has some kind of cameo at the end of Birds of Prey.

Catch Birds of Prey (And The Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) when it hits theaters Feb. 7.
